So far in Germany

10/01/2005, 08:14 AM

Ok. so let me bring you up to date on what is happening.

We arrived in Germany yesterday morning at around 10am. We left Italy around 11pm. That will give you a general idea of how long it took us to get here.

So, we checked in to our hotel at that time. Moved the cats into the room and went out to find the closest internet café we could to start looking for places to live. (we did walk around the town but here in this town it looks like they don't post for rent signs).

After that, we came back to the hotel and my mother contacted a few people and left messages saying that we are looking for short term stays and we have cats. Mind you its very cold and windy right now in the town of Wiesbaden. So my ears were hurting big time! not to mention i was starting to feel sick. So, mom decided to let me stay and sleep in the hotel while she walked around town, looking around, and getting dinner.

After i woke up i felt a bit better, but still not up to par. I was able to stay awake long enough to eat a great Thai dinner and take a shower. After that, my mother and i went to sleep around 7-8pm. We slept right til 8am, when my mother got a phone call about a possible short term rental apartment that could be affordable. (Apparently, affordable and furnished means 800 euros!) So we called this guy we talked to yesterday about his place. He owns a resort up in Siegburg, Germany. It isn't resort season but, he is willing to rent it to us for 90 euros a week for as long as we want. It is a 19 room place and there will only be us and him there. WOW. here is a picture of it.

We are driving up there tomorrow and staying there until we find a place and a job.

In Germany, they have Walmart's. I cant believe i am saying this, but thank heavens for it. That means that we can get clothing and supplies we need for cheap.

Well, i think that is about it for now. Check out some cool pictures.

This satellite image released by the MODIS Rapid Response Team and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center shows smoke billowing from the wildfires in southern California 29 September 2005. An army of firefighters got the upper hand in a battle against wildfires that have charred 8,000 hectares (20,000 acres) of suburban Los Angeles, forcing 410 people to flee their homes

Smoke from wildfires is seen near the Oak Park area of Ventura County, Calif., Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005. A smoky haze from a 20,655-acre wildfire hangs over parts of Los Angeles Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, but firefighters helped by good weather cancel most evacuation orders and they make significant gains against the flames.
